Wanlong in Chongli: 32 runs, 550 m vertical, 19 advanced runs and a 4,160 m top run, with 2024-25 ticket prices, ski-in lodging and the train from Beijing.
Wanlong is one of the oldest of Chongli's big resorts, and it is the one skiers come to when they want the mountain to push back. Thirty-two runs, seven lifts and 550 m of vertical from a 2,110 m summit. Most of that terrain is advanced. If you have been skiing European pistes for a season or two and want to be stretched without leaving China, this is the hill.
Thirty-two runs is a lot of piste for 550 m of vertical, which tells you what kind of mountain it is: broad and rolling at the bottom, steep and serious where it counts.
Nineteen of the 32 runs are advanced. That is the reason to come. On a clear morning after grooming you can lap the steep sector repeatedly, and because the hill is compact you can do it while the snow is still hard and fast.
Eight intermediate runs, mostly long connectors and cruising routes. They will get you down from the top, but nobody books Wanlong for the blue runs.
There are five beginner runs. That is enough for a warm-up, but the overall split still makes Wanlong a poor place to learn. If someone in your group is starting out, this is not the week for it.
After a busy day the advanced runs get tracked out and mogulled, and Wanlong takes that harder than a groomed resort would. If you like bumps and variable snow you will find plenty of it here. If you want a perfect piste every morning, go earlier or choose a different mountain. Our Wanlong resort page has the trail map and the current run list.
Wanlong is usually the first mountain in Chongli to open and the last to close. In 2025-26 it opened on 21 October, its earliest start in 23 years, and closed on 7 April 2026. That makes it the natural choice for a late-October trip or a spring trip when the other Chongli resorts are shutting. The general season window is mid-November to mid-April, but those dates are estimates, so check the current ones on our opening dates page before booking flights.
Lifts generally run from about 08:30 to 16:30, and some upper lifts close earlier. If you want a full day on the hill, be on the first lift.
These are the 2024-25 figures published by Beijing Tourism, converted at roughly 1 USD = 6.7 CNY. Wanlong day tickets assume you bring your own equipment.

Prices went up sharply after that. In 2025-26 the rack rate for a Wanlong day ticket reached 800 CNY on holidays, and official-channel discounts were widely available. The 2026-27 prices had not been published when we checked on 20 October 2026.
If you are travelling with your own skis, book the 12306 snow-gear service for the Beijing-Chongli line, 68 CNY per set in 2025-26, so the boards travel properly. Our gear rental guide covers what to expect in the rental hall.
The high-speed train from Beijing North or Qinghe reaches Taizicheng in about an hour, and the free Wanlong shuttle takes about 15 minutes from the station to the base. If Taizicheng is sold out, ride to Chongli station and transfer there. Our high-speed train guide walks through booking with a passport.
By car, allow about three hours from Beijing on the Badaling and Jingzhang expressways. Shuttles also run to Capital and Daxing airports and Beijing South station.
Entering China at Beijing puts Hebei inside the 240-hour visa-free transit area, and many passports have visa-free entry of their own, but the rules differ by passport and change often; check the current position on our China travel essentials page. Google, WhatsApp and Instagram are blocked in mainland China, so plan on an international eSIM or roaming.
Most Wanlong lodging is ski-in, ski-out. Longgong, Shuanglong and Yuelong are the hotels on the base. There are also apartment buildings. Beijing Tourism described the base in 2024 as having five hotels, eight themed restaurants, plus bars and cafes.
If you are splitting your week between Wanlong and another Chongli mountain, or you want more restaurants than the base offers, compare the options on our where to stay in Chongli page.
Weekdays from mid-December to early March are the best balance of snow cover and price. Avoid New Year and the Spring Festival on 6 February 2027, when tickets reach their highest and Chongli rooms fill up weeks ahead.
Things that catch people out:
Choose it if you want steep, committed terrain and long advanced runs, if you are extending a Beijing trip and want the serious option rather than a gentle one, or if your dates sit at the edges of the season when Wanlong is open and the others are not.
Look elsewhere if you are a beginner, if your group wants a village with an ice rink and a terrain park rather than long pistes, or if you are chasing powder. Chongli runs on snowmaking, so expect groomed, firm pistes rather than fresh snow.
Is Wanlong good for beginners? Not really. Only 5 of its 32 runs are beginner, against 19 advanced. It suits confident intermediate and advanced skiers.
How steep is Wanlong? The official vertical is 550 m from a 2,110 m summit, and 19 of 32 runs are graded advanced. Other sources quote the vertical as 554 m or 560 m.
How do I get to Wanlong from Beijing? High-speed train to Taizicheng, about an hour, then the free Wanlong shuttle for about 15 minutes. By car it is roughly three hours.
What does a lift ticket cost? The published 2024-25 day ticket was 399 CNY with your own equipment, about 60 USD, or 579 CNY with rental. Prices rose after that, so check the official channel for 2026-27.
