Fulong Ski Resort Guide: Closest to Chongli Town, Value

Fulong sits on the edge of Chongli town next to Chongli station: 482 m vertical, mostly beginner and intermediate terrain, a big park, night skiing and good value.

Why Fulong

Fulong is the easiest Chongli resort to reach without a car and, among the big four, usually the cheapest to ski. Twelve lifts, including a gondola from town, serve the mountain, with 482 m of vertical rising from the edge of Chongli town. Published run counts differ between sources and seasons, so we do not quote one here; check the resort's current trail map. Terrain splits about 28% beginner, 44% intermediate and 28% advanced, so first-time skiers and intermediates have plenty of room.

The selling point is the town. Fulong sits on the edge of Chongli town (Xiwanzi), next to Chongli high-speed station, rather than up a mountain road. Its large ski service hall, reported at 45,000 m², is where you buy tickets, rent gear and change, and ordinary town hotels, restaurants and shops are close by.

For background on the region, our Chongli guide lists the whole area and its resorts.

Slopes and terrain

Fulong's beginner terrain sits low on the mountain, with a learning area and magic carpets where most first-timers spend their day. Intermediates get the largest share of the mountain, with groomed blue runs across the central slopes. The advanced runs are on the upper part of the hill. A large terrain park, reported by Xinhua in its 2025-26 season coverage at about 300,000 m², is one of the resort's main draws for snowboarders and freestyle skiers. As anywhere, stay on marked, open runs and ride park features that match your level.

Getting there by train

Ride the Beijing to Zhangjiakou high-speed line from Beijing North or Qinghe to Chongli station, the end of the branch line. Trains to Taizicheng, the stop for Thaiwoo, Genting and Wanlong, take about an hour from Qinghe and about 1 hour 25 minutes from Beijing North; check 12306 for current Chongli times. The station is next to Chongli town and Fulong, so the transfer to the base is short: take a taxi or DiDi, or ask your hotel about a pickup. Bring the passport you booked with, because it is your ticket at the gates.

If you are carrying your own skis or board, check the current 12306 rules and book the snow-gear service where it is offered. In 2025-26 it cost 68 yuan per set on marked trains, and Chongli was one of the stations with a dedicated gear channel. The 2026-27 arrangement had not been published when we wrote this in October 2026.

Driving, bus and air

China does not recognise International Driving Permits, so you need a Chinese driving licence to drive. Residents with one should allow roughly two to three hours from Beijing by expressway; the mountain roads ice over at night. In 2025-26 a Beijing–Chongli ski coach ran from 14 November to 16 March, from Beijing South station and both Beijing airports, for 80 yuan (100 yuan from Daxing); its Route 1 stopped at Fulong and Tangyin, and booking was by phone or WeChat. Check whether it returns for 2026-27. The nearest airport is Zhangjiakou Ningyuan (ZQZ), about 1 hour 30 minutes by car, used mainly for domestic flights.

Lift tickets and value

Beijing Tourism's 2024-25 listing gave Fulong's low-season weekday day ticket as 237 yuan, the 4-hour half day as 165 yuan and a 2-day pass as 428 yuan; weekend and peak prices were higher. In 2025-26 the day ticket ran from 261 to 320 yuan in November and March and from 525 to 639 yuan from December to February. 2026-27 prices had not been published when we checked in October 2026, so confirm on the resort's official channels or Trip.com when booking, and bring your passport to collect tickets.

Among the big four Chongli resorts (Thaiwoo, Genting, Wanlong and Fulong), Fulong has had the lowest listed prices, though smaller resorts such as Duolemeidi and Cuiyunshan cost less. With easy learning terrain and the station next door, it is the natural pick for first-time skiers, families and anyone who wants to spend more time on the snow than in transit. Our budget guide puts these prices in USD and explains the seasonal pattern.

Night skiing and the terrain park

Fulong runs night skiing on a separate ticket. In 2025-26 night sessions ran from 17:30 to 21:30, an earlier start than at Wanlong and Genting. Not every run is lit, and the resort publishes the season's night schedule and prices on its official channels, so check before you plan an evening around it. Night sessions are popular with local families and groups, so expect the lower lifts to be busy.

Where to stay

The resort options are the Fulong Resort Hotel, on the edge of town near the station, and the Tangyin Hot Spring Holiday Hotel, which also has apartments. Chongli town adds a wide range of ordinary hotels at lower prices. The area around the resort is known as Fulong Four Seasons Town.

For a fuller picture of where to base in Chongli, our where to stay in Chongli guide maps the bases across all four resorts.

Eating and evening

Because Fulong is next to town, you can walk to ordinary restaurants and shops in the evening, and prices are lower than in the resort villages. Expect local Chinese restaurants rather than international dining; English menus are rare, so a translation app with camera mode helps. Evenings are quieter than in Thaiwoo's village. Families can use the Polar Bear House, a 3,000 m² indoor children's playground opened in 2024 next to the ski service hall, and the Tangyin hotel has a hot spring.

Practical choices once you arrive:

  • Pay with Alipay or WeChat Pay; we could not confirm that every lift-ticket counter takes Visa or Mastercard, so set the apps up before you go
  • Keep some yuan as a backup for the rare moment a QR code fails
  • Screenshot your hotel's Chinese name for taxi drivers

When to go

In 2025-26 Fulong was open from 1 November 2025 to 23 March 2026, one of the earliest openings in Chongli. The 2026-27 opening date had not been announced in October 2026; check our opening dates page and the resort's official channels closer to the time. November and March weekdays have had Fulong's lowest prices. New Year and the Spring Festival are the busiest; Chinese New Year's Day 2027 is Saturday 6 February, and the official holiday lasts roughly a week. If your dates are fixed there, ski early and book hotels well ahead. Our cold weather guide helps with layering for Chongli's cold nights.

Try it with the neighbours

Fulong and Thaiwoo sit at opposite ends of the village-resort spectrum and use different stations (Chongli for Fulong, Taizicheng for Thaiwoo, where free resort shuttles meet trains). A taxi links Chongli town with the Taizicheng resorts, so a long weekend lets you do both. Our Beijing weekend ski trip post lays out a plan that includes Fulong and two of its neighbours.
