Jilin province has some of China's biggest ski areas, from Beidahu and Lake Songhua near Jilin City to the Changbaishan resorts on the North Korean border. The table shows each resort's current snow depth, today's snowfall, the 7-day snowfall forecast, temperature and wind.
Beidahu and Lake Songhua usually open in late November; Lake Songhua opened on 22 November in 2025. Beidahu can run into April.
Midwinter in Jilin is very cold, which keeps snow dry. Rime ice on the trees around Jilin City is a famous sight in January.
Base readings are taken at the lower mountain. Beidahu has close to 900 m of vertical, so the top can be much colder and windier.
On very cold days, check wind chill before planning a full day on exposed upper lifts.
