Chongli Ski Guide: Olympic Resorts, Trains and Tickets

Chongli, the 2022 Olympic snow venue two hours from Beijing: nine resorts, 219 runs, the Taizicheng high-speed train, 2025-26 prices and how to choose a resort.

Chongli is a mountain district north-west of Beijing that turned into China's busiest ski cluster and then hosted the snow events of the 2022 Winter Olympics. Nine resorts sit within a short shuttle ride of each other, and the high-speed train from Beijing gets you there in about an hour.

Choosing a resort: Wanlong is the most advanced mountain, with 19 of its 32 runs graded advanced and a 4,160 m longest run. Genting, the Olympic snowboard and freestyle venue, has the strongest parks and night skiing. Thaiwoo has the most complete village. Fulong, next to Chongli town and its station, has 33 runs, a big terrain park and a large kids' area. Smaller Cuiyunshan, Duolemeidi and the public runs at Snow Ruyi round out the district.

Snow and weather: Chongli is cold and dry, and the slopes run on large-scale snowmaking. Expect firm, groomed snow and clear, cold days rather than powder. The season starts in late October at Wanlong and most resorts close in late March.

Tickets and crowds: 2026-27 prices had not been published by 20 October 2026. In 2025-26 rack day tickets at Thaiwoo, Genting and Wanlong ranged from 443 yuan (Thaiwoo weekday) to 800 yuan (Wanlong holiday), with official-channel discounts often near half. Weekends, New Year and the Spring Festival are the busiest and dearest; weekdays in December, January and March are the sweet spot.

Is Chongli worth it compared with Japan? For snow quality, Japan wins. Chongli's strengths are modern lifts, Olympic terrain and being an hour from Beijing by train, so it pairs well with a Beijing trip.

How many days do I need? Two days covers one resort; three or four lets you ski Thaiwoo, Wanlong and Genting by shuttle.
